Does it bug you that, under Windows XP, you can only see 3 icons in the Quick Launch Toolbar area next to the the Start Menu? You can drag and drop more shortcuts into this area but the extra icons just move onto a toolbar that comes out of the Quick Launch area when you click it in the right place, which make it not as quick.

By default, the Quick Launch toolbar in Windows XP is no longer a "bar" - it's more of an "area", a vague collection of icons that just seem to be hovering there for some reason. Although it seems that you can't make the Quick Launch area wider, you actually can but you need to turn it back into a resizable toolbar first.

Right-click on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen and de-select the 'Lock the taskbar' option. You can then resize the Quick Launch area as you want it. Once you're done, right-click the taskbar and re-select the option to lock its position.
