| The
name will be resolved by the DNS, but lo and behold, your computer
doesn't care.
Your Winsocks has been corrupted by spyware, and/or Norton
when it tried to take care of the spyware.
If you have Windows 95-98se you must reinstall the TCP/IP
stack, and if you have Windows2000 or XP you simply cannot reinstall
the protocol. I found a tool that does this for you, and WILL fix the
Winsocks via the registry in 2000 and XP, NO NEED TO RELOAD OS!!!!!!!
Microsoft will tell you there is a DNS error, but they
are wrong, running Ethereal will show you that the DNS resolves the
name correctly.
If you haven't already reloaded the O/S, google for an
app named Winsockxpfix. Run it, MAKE SURE you back-up the reg (doesn't
really matter if u were gonna reload anyway) and it WILL reboot WITHOUT
warning! It is necessary to reboot, so beware.
It seems this also clears up the Client Common thing,
and a a possible ending explorer now on shutdown. |
