Re: I need drivers for my HP MX75 Monitor and some PCI drivers

Quite correct. Drivers just enable the hardware. To run certain functional capabilities of that hardware usually requires software. There's quite a few "generic" burning programs available on the net, a number of them "Freeware", but experimentation is required to see if they'll work with the hardware in question. Let us know if you can't find something compatable. Three or four heads thinking/looking are usually better than one. ;>)
Yeah, I tried some of those with little luck. However, I got everything running fine now.

My CD-R drive is burning cd's thanks to Roxio's "Easy CD & DVD ver.6". I simply installed this software and started burning on a cd some files in no time.

I had to make sure that I installed a version of Roxio that was compatible with Win98, though. And version 6 does the trick. So there you go.

About my DVD drive not playing DVD's? Well, I also got that fixed by simply installing "WinDVD version 5. That's all.

Before installing "WinDVD5" I was tempted to install some new firmware that was suppose to fix or update my DVD drive. But after reading more about that, I found out it was pretty risky to do that. Because if I didn't installed it the right way or installed the wrong firmware, I could damage my DVD drive beyond repair. So I decided to stay away from that. I simply went after some DVD playing software (WinDVD5) and got things working again.

So everything is great at the moment. I'm playing some old/new games on my PC. Games that had a problem playing on XP. And I'm happy using that OS to do other type of work.

I had a little problem with Notepad, though. In Windows 98, Notepad is very limited by memory. So let's say you write a loooong document, you'll eventually get a dialog box that says that the document cannot open in Notepad and that you'll have to use Wordpad.

I don't like using Wordpad, so I installed on my computer "MetaPad". A notepad look-a like program. So now I can write documents as long as I want with no problems.

Thanks for the help! Here's hoping that my experience may help anybody in a similar situation.
