I have followed your instructions by the dots but I am still havin issues. My first concern occured when I went to microsoft's support to download the recovery console my my pc. I have XP media center 2002 but there was none present for it. The options were only for XP pro or XP home. Anyway I played smart and saved them both to my desktop, in addition to the comboxix that was also saved there. I then drag n drop 'XP HOME' to Combofix and started the process as instructed.

Everything went well, all the prompts expeced did come and I followed through. After I was prompted about the clock settings, and such. Combofox started to delete some files then, out of nowhere came the blue screen of death, and it read:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restrart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any updates you might need.

If the problems continue, disable or remove newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as cachins or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced startup options, and then select safe mode.

So then, I tried using the XP PRO recovery console that idownloaded and dragged it to Comobfix and redid everything. The same exact thing happened.

So now I am back to square one, and even more so lost....
