Some more information about your computer would help - including how you connect to your network, when did the problem start, patch level of XP, and what you have done so far to fix the problem.

You did not say where you are attempting to download music from - understand that downloading music from peer-to-peer (P2P) sites that tolerate illegal filesharing of copyrighted materials, including the sharing of songs, movies, and published documents without the required compensation/royalties, is by far, one of the easiest ways to become infested with malware. Not to mention, it is stealing. Therefore, if that is your source of music, stop. The risks are too great.

I am not accusing, just warning.

So, assuming you are attempting to download purchased music from legitimate sites, is the problem consistent? Same sites? Some sites?

Have you scanned for malware? Does the computer work fine otherwise?
