Re: PC running slow and crashing- not virus related ?

Check Disk Management for disk usage:

Start/Run/ diskmgmt.msc

Also the tool you want from Maxtor is PowerMax:

The instructions are there for creating a bootable floppy that will test your drive.

If the drive is truely healthy then we can start picking through your logs.
