iPod arranges by artist's FIRST name.

My friend has an old iPod that for some reason, arranges the artist's name by FIRST name. How do I get it so his iPod will arrange by artist's LAST name?

i asked this on the apple forums because i had the same problem, i just dont remember what i did.
