Runtime error-Pinnacle 9
I get this message when I try to open Pinnacle Studio DV 9:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error
Abnormal program termination
Can anyone give me some advice on this? I've re-installed, rebooted, everyting, but nothing works.

Re: Runtime error-Pinnacle 9
Does it also refer to a specific filename or is there a 'Details' or 'Advanced' button that you can click on for more information?
If you've re-installed and it's still not fixed, then it may be that one of the Microsoft shared libraries is corrupted and needs replacing. However, finding out which one will be a little trickier and it would be a lot easier if it said it somewhere in the error message.
Let us know

Re: Runtime error-Pinnacle 9
Hi,
I have the same problem.
Iused to work with Pinnacle 8.8.
3 weeks ago, I first had this runtime error message.
It refers to "studio.exe"
last week, I completely re-installed Pinnacle 8.8 and even Pinnacle 9.
Unfortunately, I still have the same error message.
However, if i do not click on the "OK" button of this message, I can use pinnacle visual studio !! ??
I still have some difficulties when creating a dvd with menus and transition, but this is probably due to Pinnacle usual bugs !!??

Re: Runtime error-Pinnacle 9- Me Too, Me Too
New XP SP2 installation, everything works - installed ver 9 and Capture and Edit work fine, but get that same error msg when trying to "make movie", whether to hard drive or dvd writer - no solution found yet.

Re: Runtime error-Pinnacle 9
I've had a bit of a trawl round the web for this and I reckon it might be worth installing (or re-installing) Visual Studio 6 Service Pack 5, Visual Studio being the 'family' of development languages that includes Visual C++.
You can get it from the Microsoft site HERE but please note that it's a 58Mb download so you'll need broadband. The install assumes that you've already got Internet Explorer 5.5 or later. If you haven't, then I'd recommend getting up to IE6 SP1 anyway and then see if you've still got the problem!
Hope that helps - let us know

Re: Runtime error-Pinnacle 9
Hi - thanks for the earlier reply - I was hoping to get a specific fix from Pinnacle, so I waited .... yes, I have the very latest version of IE6, etc ... so I don't know if I have a VB error, or not. Funny, I can do everything BUT make the DVD ... off the direct topic, I have been having problems with "DVD Shrinker 3.2" too, so maybe it's my pc? ... Anyway, I finally got some new feedback from Pinnacle, but they too are stumped, and have just asked me to look at all the other s/w on my pc, to see if some other prog is causing the problem. And since I might soon be upgrading to P4, or such, the problem may also go away on the new platform. Oh well .... thanks again.

Re: Runtime error-Pinnacle 9
OK, Ve2cy. From my experience of working on a software helpdesk, I'm surprised that Pinnacle couldn't come up with any answers. Let us know if you get the same problem on a new PC and we may be able to come up with something different to try on a different system (I would suggest that you should install and test Pinnacle before you load up all your other software so that you can rule out a conflict with another program).
If you can, I would still recommend trying out Visual Basic 6 Service Pack 5 (link given in my previous message).
