Talking Re: Upgrade or buy new?

Getting on your dad's insurance? Blimey, that would make you jammier than a Jammy Dodger

Would take quite a bit of getting used to though. After getting out of your Corsa into a Jag, it would feel like you were driving something the size of Hertfordshire!

Re: Upgrade or buy new?

Yeah it is very big, its about 3 times the length of my car... but its an automatic, so no more stalling!!

Its also got lambs wool rugs ( nice for the feet) 3 TV’s and DVD players, with sat Nav, ( so we don’t get lost) and the best bit, heated massaging seats and extremely pretty alloy wheels ( although my alloy wheels are quite nice, I decided it was a must have on my car, so I made them add them at no extra cost)... not to mention its got a nice 4.2 liter supercharged petrol engine and does 0-60 in 4 seconds!!! (Unlike my 1.2 engine which does 0-60 in a little over a week) so it’s a very jammy, Jammy Dodger indeed. Although it does kind of drink petrol like water, costs my dad an absolute fortune, especially as we live in Hertfordshire and he works in Scotland!!!

When I get added to the insurance ill prob wrap it around a tree knowing my luck!!

Although knowing him well have… a different car by then… he changes his mind a lot, in the last 3 years we’ve had
BMW series 5 (2 different ones, both green, but when the new reg came out he wanted that)
Mercedes CLK (black) I loved it, he hated it… was deff my fave car he’s had, but I did kind of push him into getting it…
Mercedes E class( had a silver one for a week, then dad found some fault and they replaced it with a green one which had a problem with the engine knocking, so dad made them give him his money back)
Bmw x5, which was unbelievably unpractical, as neither mum nor me could get in the damn thing!!
Now we have the xjr.
Once I move out or he “kills my mum off” he wants an Aston martin, which I intend on inheriting

What colours ur mini? I love them there so cute I was going to get one when I got my car at the time I thought the mini was 2 small, now I kinda regret it and wish I had one ( how it could feel small I’m not sure, I’m only 5 foot, so a remote control car would b spacious!!!)

Re: Upgrade or buy new?

Well, because my Mini is actually a Mini Estate (getting quite rare now) and because I've taken the back seats out (more room for speakers!), you can actually get LOADS in it. So it's quite practical as well as the most fun car I've ever driven (more fun than the Impreza). I'm quite small too but I've fitted some really figure-hugging bucket seats so it's very snug inside!

I'd post you up a pic if I knew how.

My Mini's the one on the right. This was when I went to France with the Sussex Mini Club last year

Re: Upgrade or buy new?

VERY nice!... black cars are by far the best ( shame no matter how long you spend cleaning them, within 5 min there dusty) and black shows the scratches... not that i reversed into a policemans car 3 weeks after getting it or anything so i wouldnt know ( oops)...

But with no backsteats where to u put pasengers? in the boot? hehe actually. i think u may have the right idea there.. pluss lots of room for shopping. i think thats the best thing my car has over my dads, the jag has a really long, but shallow boot, so u cant fit hardly anything in it.. where as my hatchback quite nicely fits all my clothes shopping ( all my earnings go on petrol and clothes and bairing in mind i spend less than £25 a month on petrol, thats alot of clothes)

im working on uploading a picture of my car at the moment ( which has been named penny, because at the time thats all i payed for it.. my dad payed just under 11 thousand, and i payed all that i had in my pocket, which at the time was 1p and a packet of polos. since then ive given him £2000)
my computers being a pain in the arse and wont let me.. ill pop onto the laptop and do it in a mo

Very pretty indeed

Nice wheels too

Poor dad - spends £11,000 on YOUR car and still has to clean the wheels himself !!! He must REALLY like Polos, lol

Re: Upgrade or buy new?

i clean the car myself thankyou! lol

i make sure i clean it once a week to keep it shiney and polish it once a month to make it go * ping*.. although i left it to dad to polish the scratch off the back bumper.. i was ill and leaving rehearsals and i was blocked into a space, and got my positining a bit wrong... luckily i knew the policeman so he didnt kill me and i didnt scratch his( it was his own car, not a panda one) when i finnish uni i might get a vw beetle, just coz i think there cute and bubble like.

whats your ideal car?

Re: Upgrade or buy new?

My ideal car would actually be my 26-year-old Mini, professionally restored and resprayed with the engine tuned up just a little more and a custom-built 5-speed gearbox (they're quite expensive for Minis) ...... oh and some even phatter tunes! I've had it for so long and rebuilt / restored / replaced / uprated so much of it already that I really have made it exactly how I want it - although giving me another £10,000-£15,000 to make it immaculate wouldn't do any harm

Even then, I still wouldn't be able to deal with driving it every day, all the time though. Stiff suspension, racing clutches, etc, etc all take their toll on you after a while!

I used to have a bright red MGF VVC, which I loved (but had to sell it to buy my house ) and it would be nice to have another one of those but, again, it would need to be souped up a bit more and would need a pretty hefty stereo to keep me really happy!

I really liked my Impreza but it was sooooo unreliable. Would be nice to have another one of those if I could trust it to not break down. Didn't have a sunroof or a convertible top though! That would be cool actually - an Impreza STi convertible.

Or a soft-top 911 or Ferrari 355 would be pretty good but, for the town I live in, it would have the same problem as the Impreza had - no chance of ever driving it very quick!

My mate's dad would, apparently, be interested in buying my Jag later this year so maybe I'll push the boat out and get myself a 1998-2000 XJR. That would be really nice.

I'm not really into "exotic" supercars. I'm more interested in cars that you could actually drive to work in every day and then boot it around in when there's no traffic. In that sense, I'm really lucky in that I've owned a lot of my "dream cars" already

I tell you what, I'll borrow your DB9 when you get it and I'll let you loose in my Mini if you really want some fun ......... but only if you're REALLY good though
