Lost on the Ether of the Internet...

Well, went to the Church this afternoon to find out when we can Baptise our new boy...Left my 5yr old with her Grammy at our house. That is a big mistake!

We get back to the phone ringing off the hook...Seems my massive WAN is down. No one can get out and not thing in. We are now "Lost on the Ether of the Internet" per the Aussie just up the road!

I look at my daughter...She has that guilty look...She is not supposed to go near my computers...But she does anyway when I am around.

Well, this afternoon while Grammy was watching Racing, little computer bug decided to see what all the computers and cables were really doing...She pulled the ATX Power Plug off of the Linux server and fried the PSU and the MB.

"But Daddy...It was such a pretty colour, I didnt think it would hurt if I touched it!" And that is how I spent my afternoon and evening...Building in a mad scramble a new Linux server out of old P2 and P3 parts...Ended up installing in temporarily on a laptop just to stop the calls!

So now my experiment is running off of a 486DX3 100mhz laptop with 10mps connectivity as I am sweating over the final install steps. Fortunately, I had the system do a full backup last weekend and didnt loose much in the way of mail packets, only lost about 4hrs.
