controling your tv via mobile phone

i read this on another message board and wondered if it was true. I've google searched it, but cant seem to find anything.

how fun it would be to see my parents faces when the tv keeps changing chanels and no1's touching the remote!

"download the remote onto your phone and use that
as long as your mobile phone has got infa red on it (99% do) you can download a programme...select the make of your TV on your phone, and it turns your phone into a remote controll for your TV (hours of fun sitting in my bedroom turnign over my neighbours TV!!!!!)"

any idea if its true, and how/ where to get the software?

Re: controling your tv via mobile phone

it would be possible but it would be mobile phone and tv dependant, so i find it highly unikelly that it exists.

I have seen it before but can't find it now however. You just have to tune it in like with those all for one remote controls. You can get watches that do it too. We used to have a laptop that kept changing the tv channel all of the time. We had to put a book over the infrared bit to stop it doing it. It did my head in.
