Building new custom pc for animation work

I want to build my own custom pc to do animation work. Mainly working with 3D studiomax, photoshop. I need help .. have been given a few configurations and am very confused as to which is best for me.

Config 1.

AMD 4200
Asus A8N32-SLI Premium
Asus 7900GT
2 Gb Kingston RAM
Windows XP Home

Config 2.

Intel P4 3 Gb Dual-Core
MSI 945P Platinum
Nvidia Quadro FX 540
2 Gb RAM
Windows XP Pro

Since the suggestions from the dealers are so different, I would really like to know I should choose whether AMD or Intel and whether to choose Quadro or 7900GT. Please help .. I would really like a stable system with good reliable performance.
