Will You Upgrade to QuadCores?

so will you upgrade? is it worthwhile?

Already did.

It is useful to note that when you load a program you can use the Task Manager to set the cores to run on.

Right click the process/program and click Set Affinity...

Here you can disable cores for that process or program to get the best results.

The issue here appears to be that the hardware is far ahead of the software and not many programs have been developed to utilize quad core YET.

But it is the future. A vary similar line can be said for 64bit systems.

hmm. the price is quite steep though. and to fully utilise it's prowess i believe that most people will have to buy/build a new computer right?

it's all about the money. lol.

i'm quite anxious to see AMD's so called "True QuadCore" lol. apparently it goes by a totally different style compared to Intel right?

Prices of current Quad Cores will drop significantly over the next 6 months.

This is definitely a New Build item. You need the latest motherboards (NVidia 680i SLI) to do it justice.

yeah i've read about Penryn and the 08 Nehalem. apparently Penryn even boasts of lower core temperatures hmm...

i'm now in a dilemma whether should i or should i not build a new computer this year. but i'd mostly opt for AMD since i believe it would be more powerful.

im not sure, im still using intel celeron 2.2Ghz CPU!!!!

I will build a budget PC in a custom case before i upgrade anything in my current pc

when i say custom, i dont meen the usual side panel and lights.... which can look reallllly good, but something completely different! maybe a draw, a subwoofer box, a plain wooden box, under a wooden chair.... heyy good idea!! a chair with an intergrated PC!! front perspex panel with cut-outs for a fan, cd crive and front USB, rear hard wood (possibly MDF) with cut-outs for mobo and fans then hardboard on the sides with speakers

the perspex might look out of place though and it may be better to have MDF on the sides, just to make it a little more consistant...... oh the possibilities!!

custom case? i've got a friend with great ideas but the equipments needed for his are like super costly. all those power drills and stuff. i know nothing bout those LOL.

yeah, i said never.... i probably will but like i said, i dont want to spend money on upgrading because i dont use my pc for gaming or anything like that...

I probably will do in a few years when they are the standard procesors lol!!!
