A couple of weeks ago I was involved in a thread that got on to the subject of internet scams and identity theft. I've found this page posted by ASIC, the Australian Security and Investments Commission; the specifics probably won't apply to those of you elsewhere in the world, but it has some good advice on how to obtain credit checks and detect fraudulent use of your details.
