Big ol Rant about Evesham

****Warning warning... rant alert!.. Warning warning****

I bought a pc just under 3 years ago, spent about 2grand on it, i also paid a silly amount for 3 years ON SITE warranty, i could have chosen return to base guarantee, but didn't fancy on the odd chance anything might go wrong being without a PC for a few weeks so i paid the extra ( please note i have had 4 pc's myself and have also bought PCs for my mum and dad in the past, the worst i had go wrong with them is a fan grinding to a halt in one after 4 years and a hard drive giving up the will to live in another after 6 years)

So i bought this PC from evesham, paid a fortune for it, expecting it to "last" and be able to play games etc.

PC arrived, and within about half hours use overheated so much it crashed, also burnt out the graphics card. Evesham came out to fix it and apologised, but could fix it. So they completely replaced the system.

2 months later, both graphics cards failed again, evesham came out, to fix it, brought the wrong part. came back with the right part, fixed it.

Next there is some problem with the motherboard which evesham admitted was a known problem with the system and replaced.

6 months later fan broke, evesham came out and replaced it.

Few months later graphics card decided it wasn't getting enough power so reduced performance and turned SLI off. Evesham came out replaced graphics cards, and PSU.

Few months later 2 fans simultaneously "break", evesham come to replace them, fans they brought were wrong size and don't fit, so they come back 2 weeks later and fit correct fans.

4 months ago, all fans fail, LCD display on tower fails, PC overheats various components fry. Evesham admit the case is faulty and are prone to doing that, i need to box the PC up and POST it to them despite having on site warranty.

Lots of me stamping and yelling, post pc back to them. 2 weeks later pc turns up "good as new" ( remember good as new from evesham, actually means a complete lemon)

NOW! once again LCD display on the tower has failed, it controls all of the fans in the system so none of those are working, the graphics cards are saying they aren't getting enough power again so are reducing performance and wont let me run any game for more than a few min, and when i do get a game running at all its stupidly choppy. Evesham are refusing to come out to repair it, saying its too big a job, i need to post it to them, but because its Xmas i should wait until new year, then the repair will take 7-14 days. My warranty runs out in April, so lets face it after its track record, in April ill have a flashy looking box that actually may as well be used to store my paperwork for as much use as it will be!

Despite it being an on going problem with these damn towers combusting they wont extend the warranty, nore will the put the pc in a different tower. God knows what they are doing to the graphics cards for them not to work for more than a few months, and apparently they are fitting the cheapest fans they can find as they don't last either.

The pc is used for me for uni and dad for work, by the new year with none of the fans working ill probably have caused it to overheat and fry half the components inside it again which evesham will have to replace as its still under warranty.

Is it me or do i deserve a refund of my "onsite" warranty as they persistently cant fix the system "on site" and i have to post it back to them??? (although they dont actually be able to fix it where ever they try! )
Ii have NEVER known a system be so unreliable, surely i cant be just unlucky this many times on one pc when every other system i have never has a problem????
There is pretty much no dust in the system and the fan filters are cleaned out regularly, so it isn't dust killing the fans or the components. The room is well ventilated and pretty cool all the time, so its not external heat causing the parts to overheat. I don't overclock it, it isnt even used for extremely long periods at a time, nore does it even get used much for playing games ( because it wont manage to run any game for more than 15 min without overheating and turning off) Evesham MUST be fitting sub standard parts!!!

***End of rant, please resume normal service***

Re: Big ol Rant about Evesham

That is a spectacular record of failure. Stuff the warranty, I'd want a refund for the whole package!
Have you got documentation for each of these problems, Claire? You could take this to the government department that deals with consumer affairs, but without paperwork they probably couldn't help you.
I haven't heard of Evesham out here in Aus, they must be just local to the UK. If yours is a typical case, they can stay there!

Hi Clairey, I would getting in touch with your County Council's Trading Standards officials also write to one of the PC magazines who have a customer complaints page, such as Windows XP magazine they will also take up your cause with, Manufactures do not like bad publicity and will probably settle with you.
