CSS browser incompatibility

Hi there,

I'm a total CSS/XHTML beginner and have downloaded a free template with which to redesign my site, and although it looks good on Mozilla Firefox, the ad banners in the central column go wrong in Internet Explorer 6.

On Internet Explorer, the banners at the bottom go right down to the bottom of the page, past the bottom level of the other two columns, and leave a huge gap below the main text, which is really annoying and frustrating me as I do want to use the ad banners but need them to be browser compatible.

The test page is at: http://www.football-books.com/test9.html.

Can anyone tell me if there's a really simple solution to this problem? I would really like to get the redesign up and running. I hope it's just a simple glitch that can be overcome. Please note I'm a total and utter CSS beginner so I would appreciate it if you could keep the language simple!

Many thanks in advance

Sam
