recovering ms excel overwritten file

is it possible to recover an excel file somehow? i saved another excel file with that name, overwriting it by mistake.

iuse winxp pro, ms office xp.

No, you cannot retrieve this at all. You have in effect, rubbed out the original file - it is not sent to any bin I'm afraid
