Adobe 7

At last seem to have opened way to post message - so silly of me but I thought I had adobe 7 on my computer - running windows xp - but if I trya to download a pdf file from say google search the whole computer seizes up and i have to come out of aol and start again and can only view in html....
hopeless for copying and editing for me.

I have tried to download the newer version and it goes almost the whole way and then leaves me saying unable to complete loading??

Tried several times from a variety of ways, but still no joy.

However if someone sends me pdf file attached to email say, then it opens OK.

What is going wrong.

Re: in need of urgent help re adobe 7

I would suggest uninstalling all Adobe Reader software then try a new install of what they offer for your system.

The latest version for XP SP2 is 8.1:

Re: in need of urgent help re adobe 7

It might also be a problem with the AOL browser, assuming that's what you're using to view web pages. Try Jephree's suggestion first but, if that doesn't help, try connecting to the Internet with AOL and then loading a web page with a PDF on it through Internet Explorer instead. If that works OK, then it shows that your AOL browser is the issue.

Unhappy Re: in need of urgent help re adobe 7

Thank you for info. My added problem is that which ever way I try to uninstall the previous Adobe s on my computer they say they cannot and when I try to upgrade they say they cannot because the previous ones are not uninstalled.

When I search my computer for Adobe files, ignoring files which come as part of certain other software i.e. Nero, there appear to be literally 100s of files on my computer - lots of which look like duplicates. However I am scared of manually deleting them as I do not know enough to know if they have common files to other things on computer, if you click to delete a warning balloon comes up saying "If you delete this other programmes may not run" - so I dare not.....

The whole thing seems to be a nightmare and if I could I would dump Adobe off the end of Brighton pier and see how they like wallowing around unfamiliar surroundings....! Sorry, I do not believe I am completely computer illiterate, but this has really got me and everyone else scratching head.
