No space between pages in word 2003

I have Microsoft Office Pro 2003. When I clicked on the Word icon to open up a new document today, I noticed that there were no spaces between the three pages of data that I had pasted on it. Just dotted lines that signified what I guess you would call a page break.

Let me see if I can explain that better. It used to be that when I opened up Word to start a new document, there was one white page displayed with a colored border all the way around it. I don't know where that border or color comes from or how to change the color. I just see it in front of me.

Then, after I finish typing on page 1, Word automatically brings up page two, but there's a good quarter inch of space between the two pages and I can even see that color I mentioned.

Obviously something is wrong and either there's a setting somewhere that will restore it to the way I described above or I'll have to run a repair installation on Office, maybe even an uninstall and reinstall.

But first, your thoughts.
Thank you

Re: No space between pages in word 2003

I haven't used 2003 in quite some time since I have 2007 on my computer with 2000 also on it as back up but 2003 is more similar to it so I'll try to help based on what I'm seeing on my screen.

Under the view tab are different ways of viewing the document. On my version "print layout " separates the pages & puts a border around them however the rest have some kind of line signifying the end of one page & beginning of another with no page separation or coloring. That is what it sounds like, at least in your first paragraph, how word is set. Has that changed? But look to see how that is set & select print layout if that isn't selected. If you can't see where to change that I'm sorry, but I'm basing this on an older version of word than you have & its been quite some time since I used that version. Copying & pasting documents can lead to weird results especially if it is from a document from another computer or text from the web. Does it or did it say anything around the dotted line?

For best results please:
1) State your OS(s), any software involed in your problem, & any major updates (i.e. service pack, version, edition, service release, roll up, beta release, distribution [Linux], etc.) to the listed software as applicable to your problem.
2) For hardware issues also provide your system information: RAM, processor, etc. in addition to your OS.
3) If you have more than one OS on your computer, how does your problem relate to your other OS(s)? This is especially important for hardware issues.
4) Provide as much detail as possible, being specific as even the most minute detail could help others help you solve the problem.
5) Respond with the result(s) of the suggestion(s) from the other users to provide feedback, even if this only means saying "this worked!!!"
6) When done, please share the love: share the reputation. It will be appreciated and probably returned.

Still trying to resolve this

townsbg..Thanks for your reply. I've actually got some techs over at another site I posted to working on this for me also. They first (In Print Layout View) had me hover over the space between pages and then an option showed that either said "Hide or Show White Space". I chose show.

Then they had me go to View and Zoom and set on 100%. Then everything was back to normal and I clicked save an exited. That solved my problems perfectly!...almost

I thought "I need to double check to see if the settings are holding", They weren't! The View Zoom setting was holding, but it was back in normal view. So I sent them back a message that asked how I make Print Layout View the default view.

I'm waiting to hear back from them on that.
