flash buttons

Im using flash professional version 8, and ive got a flash thingy.. but i need hotspots to link to files... its all part of my ICT coursework... anyway, ive gone through the button thing in the help file, but to no avail... i cant work out how to add a button and make it work from the box where you can drag on items...

umm...
maybe someone who has got experience with making buttons that link to files could give me a quick step by step if they have time
they need to be transparent really, as it will be over/under a vector element..

umm.. i think i muddled everything up in that last post..
what i need to do is make a transparent button in flash that will link to a file...
the file can be in any folder it needs to be..

anyone??
