Exclamation Office 2007 SP 2

As some of you know Office 2007 SP 2 was released a few days a go and it is available by direct download or through automatic updates.

Quote:
Overview
The 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2 (SP2) provides customers with the latest updates to the 2007 Office suite (the products that are affected by this update are listed below). This download includes two types of fixes:

* Previously unreleased fixes that were made specifically for this service pack.
o In addition to general product fixes, this includes improvements in stability, performance, and security.
o You can find out more information in Knowledge Base Article 953195, where product-specific changes are described.
* All of the Public Updates, Security Updates, Cumulative Updates, and Hotfixes released through February 2009.

Before installing this service pack, you are strongly encouraged to read 953195, which describes some big improvements introduced by SP2, and also calls out some important information that you should be aware of before installing.
If you have automatic updates enabled it might already have been installed or it probably has prompted you to install it. Check to see if you have it installed. There are also service packs specific to project, visio, and a few others [microsoft search].

Re: Office 2007 SP 2

Quote:
1. Extract and copy the contents of the Office 2007 RTM (or Office 2007 SP1 if want to apply SP2) image or disc to a temporary folder.

For example, C:\Office2007.
2. Download or copy the Office 2007 SP1 Update file or Office 2007 SP2 Update file to another temporary folder.

For example, C:\Office2007SP1 (office2007sp1-kb936982-fullfile-en-us.exe) or C:\Office2007SP2.
3. Open a command prompt, and run the following command to retrieve and get the Office 2007 SP update MSP:

C:\Office2007SP1\office2007sp1-kb936982-fullfile-en-us.exe /extract:C:\Office2007\Updates\

Note: The drive letters, folder names and the service pack file names (name for SP1 and SP1 is different) may vary according to your own preferences.
4. Accept the Microsoft Software License Terms to start integrating the service pack to Office 2007 installation files. The process will expand several .msp files to “Updates” folder.
5. Optionally, uses disc image manipulation programs to re-create a fresh Office 2007 SP1/SP2 ISO image, or burn the Office 2007 SP1/SP2 installation files inside C:\Office2007 folder to a disc media with disk burning software.
