Backing Up Data From Internal Sata Drive to External Sata Drive:
May I first of all take this opportunity of saying 'HELLO' to all Tech Help forum users, as this is my first post.
I am hoping that some of you knowledgable people will be able to assist me with my problem, as I have tried other forums without very much success.
Let me first of all explain my full prediction, and if you can help, it would be appreciated. I am running a system using Windows XP Pro. I have an internal SATA 2 hard drive, which I use all the time. However I also have an EXTERNAL Sata 2 hard drive, fitted in a hard drive case, which I have connected to my system, via the USB connection.
Everyday, I make additions to the My Document folder, of my internal hard drive. This is the ONLY folder I actually make any changes to. NOW comes the query; I want to be able to transfer the changes I have made to my internal My Documents folder, to the External USB hard drive, My Documents folder, at the end of each day, so that should my internal drive become corrupt, I can use the External drive, without having lost any of the data. What is the easiest and safest way of doing this?
I have tried some free back up software downloads, but many of them, state that Windows cannot open this type of file, after the data has been transferred, and others I have found rather complicated for such a small task.
I have not yet purchased a back-up software programme, as I want to make sure that any I purchase, is suitable for the job.
I would very much appreciate any advice or suggestions on how to transfer the data from internal to external hard drive. Having attempted to gain some knowledge on this subject from other forums, I have been very dissappointed by the very few replies I have received.
Many thanks to all who offer any advice.
