i recieved this little computer at a garage sale for about 50 cents. it was designed for windows ME so i cant install anything else (like xp) on it or it wont boot up.

anyway it has no keyboard or mouse connections, everything is usb.

but heres my problem:

how can i install drivers for a mouse/keyboard if i cant move the cursor or type anything in?

Re: Drivers + Windows ME

you could take the HD out, put it in another computer (as master) and use the ps/2 keyboard + mouse to install the usb keyboard/mouse drivers.. then check that the usb ones work before you put the HD back

Just a sugestion
Mike

Sorry for taking so long. i got kinda busy and forgot about this thing.

its a gateway. model: FLEXATXSTC BRO ESSENTIAL 866

and no it doesnt have any serial or at connections. 5 usb ports and eighth inch plugins for microphone and stuff.

i ran across someone with a similar problem and someone said to reset the bios, so i went looking at my motherboard and moved something one pin over.

now it says that it cant find a keyboard (i dont have a usb keyboard at the moment)
and then it takes me system setup where it says it found my mouse.

so then i put the pin thing back where it was and it says it cant find my hard drive, my mouse, my floppy drive, or my cd-rom drive.

im buying a usb keyboard to see if i can move around in system setup.

and to madmike:

would that work? i thought the drivers needed to recognize my own motherboard or something...
