Ethernet controllers ??

I have here a barebone Pc .. Pundit-r i have the yellow ! mark by the side of the Ethernet controller in the device manager,
Today ive been trying to install a Wireless router and its not getting recognised by the PC i guess its probably to do with this

Hi and welcome to D-A-L

when you go to the ethernet controller have yoou tried to uninstall the device, then try and install it again
do you have the driver disc that came with the motherboard?

unfortunately i dont have the Driver disk that came with the Pc...
I cant uninstall the drivers because none have ever been installed since a System reformat.
I bought a wireless G Router today and im trying to Connect a laptop to the same internet Connection as im using for this PC.
the Pc at the moment is connecting Via a USB connection as there is both on my cable modem.

the router is a Belkin f5d7230-4
the modem is a Motorola Surfboard SB4200

I will keep working on it.. its bugging me.

Any help is apreciated and i'll owe someone a beer if they find it out LOL

has the onboard LAN controller been disabled in the BIOS?

if you still have no joy a new NIC is only a few £s

before you connect to the ethernet port on your modem you'll need to power it down remove the USB cable the power up again, the modem will not run USB and ethernet at the same time

If a solution around this Problem is just to go buy a new network card and put it in the machine , i think I'll just do that today - get it over and done with

I bought a new card (was £5) Fitted it and the router is working ok now.
Ive connected to it twice but after shutting down the Machines for the night cant connect to it again.

I would say they take some setting up these belkin routers
