Bsod Problems Again!!

so i am writing to you all about my custom built well [i]mostly[i] custom built Desktop workstation that i base most of my school work and general internet surfing on. Recently i have been experiencing the dreadful blue screen of death that i have unfortunately encountered before when i first built the system due to a corrupt download of Bitdefender 8. Now i have been having them again, but this time more severe.

I turn the computer on, it boots up fine, normally under 45 seconds as usual. I come to the log in screen and log in. Then Windows XP Pro boots up to the welcome screen and before i get to even open up iTunes the mouse freezes, and then i am greeted with the blue screen of death.

here is what it says verbatim:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer.

A driver has overrun a stack-based buffer. This overrun could potentially allow a malicious user to gain control of this machine.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer (which i have done multiple times) If this screen appears again follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to sue safe more to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select advanced start up options and then select safe mode- which i cannot do because when i look for the F8 prompt on the start up nothing comes up? would i need to disable fast boot to make the advanced start up options to be prevalent?

and now for the technical informations-

*** STOP: 0x000000F7 (0x00000000, 0x00007E11, 0xFFFFF81EE, 0x00000000)

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact system admin etc.

so this is obviously very annoying as i hate typing papers from a laptop .

NOTE: i cannot run debug log because i cant even open up a program before the BSOD pops up.

Thanks ahead of time guys i appreciate all posts and all help!

Re: Bsod Problems Again!!

Try running MemTest.

A divide by zero is caused when a DIV instruction is executed and the divisor is 0. Memory corruption (or other hardware problems) or software failures can cause this.

General causes of "STOP 0x0000007F" errors

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;137539

You could also try running in Safe Mode to run the Debug Wiz.

Re: Bsod Problems Again!!

If you could see XP loading then you've gone past Safe Mode options.

You know the F8 routine?

Also MemTest is a boot disk totally outside of Windows.

I don't remember your last thread so I don't know if you tried this yet.

Without further details Microsoft is very vague on the error:

"Memory corruption (or other hardware problems) or software failures can cause this."

Although memory is their first choice.

Re: Bsod Problems Again!!

It usually does not prompt.

As soon as the BIOS POST clears start tapping F8 repeatedly.

Re: Bsod Problems Again!!

Start tapping F8 as soon as you start the computer.

Re: Bsod Problems Again!!

I didn't realize you had both.

Choose the one that BSOD and then tap F8.

Beyond this running MemTest would be the first best step.
