@64bitgenius: It is way too soon to advise a windows reinstall. Reinstalling windows is a last resort fix to most problems. Other things can & should be checked first.
First I need to know if you have tried other devices. If you haven't please do. Second if this is a new problem & other devices don't work I would try a system restore point to before when your problem started. Next you need to try & reinstall the drivers which need to be from the manufacturer. If you tell us more about your we can try to help you find your chipset drivers. So what is the make/model of your computer or the motherboard? If you don't know you can try our hardware scan. After that you can try to reset your CMOS settings to the manufacturer's default settings through the BIOS. You should be able to get into that by repeatedly hitting delete when your computer is booting after starting/restarting your computer. If it starts booting windows you are too late. That is enough to try for now. Let us know how this goes.

All my USB slots have stopped working - PC Specialist buid 12 months ago - VISTA home premium - none of the 6 USB slots seem to regognisse anything - needed to start back ups...drivers all say up to date? there is power coming through as the web cam light coms on but is not regognised - is the problem in the BIOS settings? not much experiance in this sort of thing, all help greatfully reveived..
