Re: home theatre room

what do you need help with exactly?

do you want to hear the sound from the mic in "realtime" (i.e. like a kareoke) or is it for recording?

Have I got this correct:

you want a mic plugged into your computer
your computers sound output to your TV
and speakers connected to your TV?

Re: home theatre room

Option 1:
  • -Microphone to PC
  • -PC to TV via cable: 3.5mm plug - RCA (red and white plugs)
  • -TV to surround sound (via headphone out) using surround sound system such as this
(you will most probably not hear anything through your TV's normal speakers, just the surround sound)

Option 2:
  • -Microphone to PC
  • -PC to TV via cable: 3.5mm plug - Phono (red and white plugs)
  • -TV to home theatre unit (via scart) using something like this
(you might get sound from your TV's ordinary speakers but i'm not positive)

Option 3:The advantage of this option is that it gives you easy control of the microphone/pc's volume and, if you want, you can eliminate the pc and use a CD player instead (cables are available to do this... the CD player must have a headphone socket or Phono-out sockets)

There are different ways of doing it, these are just 3... you can of course buy surround sound systems that will plug into most DVD players if that is easier... you need to see what inputs/outputs are available on your TV

If you are using one of the above options, please let me know and i will look in more detail into the pros and cons of it and what exactly you can do with it.

Hope this helps,
Mike
