Question Playing a NTSC Disc in a PAL DVD player - can it be done

Hi guys, my dad recently brought back a film from the US (im UK) and I was wondering if my DVD player will play NTSC discs on a PAL tv. I think the player is region free, so thats not an issue.

Can NTSC discs be played on PAL systems?

most dvd players will play both types, so I would have thought it would depend on whether your TV is NTSC compatible or not.
Best thing is to pop it in and try it
