I suddenly got a message on my screen that says "out of range" at which time the computer shut down and now continuously reboots.
I have made no setting changes for weeks and the system has been running fine.
Because this message has Asus on it I assume that it is coming from my monitor.
My system is an AMD 6000 dual core running on a Gigabyte motherboard with 4g of ddr2 ram and running twin SLI Gigabyte 7200gs video cards.
Operating system is Vista ultimate.
Monitor is an Asus 22 inch LCD about two years old.
Any ideas on how I can fix this problem will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Hi,

I had the problem of Vista allowing Local Only access to my wireless router and not Local and Internet but I sorted that one out by specifying DNS information with a static IP address. So now, from DOS, I can ping google.com and it works fine. IE8 works fine but all other apps, Avant, Safari, Chrome, MSN Messenger, Windows Defender updates, etc, don't get out to the net.

I've disabled my firewall and I'm not using Norton (as some posts have suggested removing). I can't work this one out. I thought browsers were different coloured doors to the same room (the net) but this one has stumped me for a couple of days now.

Any help, much appreciated.

Cheers,

Ron

Hello,

I have Western Digital 500Gb My Book external hard drive that I purchased about 4 years ago. It has worked fine until now. My PC (XP Pro OS) would always display it as MyBook (D:). The other day I turned on my PC and the drive would not be accesable. It now shows up as just Local Drive (E:). If I right click to view the properties it displays that it has about 187Gb used space and close to 500Gb total capacity space. So it knows that something is one the drive. But when I click on the drive to open it, I see nothing.

I have tried this on my PC at home and work with the same issue. When I run a Nortan scan on the drive it strangely on scans 4 files and finds no viruses.

Any idea why this is happening? How can I access my data again?

Any help is appreciated.
