I have made no setting changes for weeks and the system has been running fine.
Because this message has Asus on it I assume that it is coming from my monitor.
My system is an AMD 6000 dual core running on a Gigabyte motherboard with 4g of ddr2 ram and running twin SLI Gigabyte 7200gs video cards.
Operating system is Vista ultimate.
Monitor is an Asus 22 inch LCD about two years old.
Any ideas on how I can fix this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I have Western Digital 500Gb My Book external hard drive that I purchased about 4 years ago. It has worked fine until now. My PC (XP Pro OS) would always display it as MyBook (D:). The other day I turned on my PC and the drive would not be accesable. It now shows up as just Local Drive (E:). If I right click to view the properties it displays that it has about 187Gb used space and close to 500Gb total capacity space. So it knows that something is one the drive. But when I click on the drive to open it, I see nothing.

I have tried this on my PC at home and work with the same issue. When I run a Nortan scan on the drive it strangely on scans 4 files and finds no viruses.

Any idea why this is happening? How can I access my data again?

Any help is appreciated.

Hey guys,

So I have two hard drives, one that was in my laptop and one that i am going to put in. I have a ceasing that allows me to put in two drives at once (and after a long process of getting the new drives to recognized), I have both in the device hooked up to my desktop. So I have three main questions:

Firstly, is there a way to simply copy over the files, since my computer sees them both as different externals.

Secondly, I have a duel boot on the other drive with windows 7 and ubuntu, will they both load up correctly? or will it be missing files, sadly Im missing the original disks and up grade keys for the vista install, and all I have is the ubuntu disk.

Lastly, the reason I am changing the hard drive is partly for speed (from a 5400 to a 7200), but also becuase several tests have told me that I had about 17,000 bad sectors on the drive. are the files going to be corrupt or missing?

thanks for your help, you guys are always really helpful

Sincerely,

My windows won't boot after installing XFX GF 6200 256MB DDR2 TV DVI (G) PV-T44A-WANG. It freezes the instant after the windows xp loading bar with the pointer and half the screen with sometime yellow or blue rectangular box.

I am having Gigabyte VM800PMC(BIOS ver. F4) with Intel E2140 1.6Ghz with 2*1 GB kingston DDR2.

The system runs fine without the graphic card. Do i need to change something bios to run it? I have selected Init Display First as [onboard AGP] and VGA share memory size as [64M] . I didnt find any other option in bios other than these two that related to Graphics.

Till now I've been using the onboard graphics and have installed all the latest drivers downloaded from the Gigabyte/VIA website.

I was running this graphic card on my other PC with asus motherboard and was/is running fine.

I am guessing this is either a wrong BIOS configuration or driver problem. Can anyone guide me please?

Sata HDD on desktop stopped working, and replaced with Seagate Baracuda.
The HDD which I took out had jumpers set for master. I didn't set the new one with the jumpers as the Seagate site says that SATA doesn't need them.
I attempted to run Vista install, but had a problem part the way through and had to switch off desktop, and since then any machine I try can't see the HDD properly.
In the machine I want to install it in ...
The BIOS sees the HDD as a Third master.
Tried Seagate tools - DOS version on floppy and it saw the HDD, but won't format, and all tests fail or not available.
Tried it as an external HDD in Win7, and XP ...
Seen in Device Manager, but no access.
I can see it in Disk Management, but format fails.
Tried Partition Magic in XP, but shows as bad, and won't allow a format.
Any ideas how I can get this fixed.
Thanks

I first started having problems when I tried to add a memory stick to my pc and when i started my computer the screen did not turn on. If i turn it off and on it would sometimes start. I had the drive diskette drive 0 seek failure and after googling that I replaced the battery on my motherboard and then took out starting a floppy (which i dont have) under the set up as directed which stopped the error message.
But my computer still only occasionsly turns on even after I took the extra memory out. It will always sound like its turning on but usually the monitor doesnt sense it and when my computer does happen to boot, I can only go in through safe mode. And when I do get in through safe mode it is only a matter of minutes before my computer freezes and ctrl+alt+dlt does nothing and I have to turn my computer off.
I have windows xp and a dell dimension 8300.
I am hoping I just have to change something in the setup (f2) when it first turns on as some of the settings reset when I changed the battery in the motherboard, otherwise I have no clue why my computer is acting up. I have system restored, checked for viruses, loose cables, etc.

My computer has an unexplainable major problem. But before I tell you what it is I will give you it's details:
1.Its an Acer Aspire 5720
2.OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
3.Intel Core 2 Duo 1.50 Ghz Processor.
4.1 Gb RAM
5.120 Gb Hard Drive
6.252 Mb Graphics Card (Media Accelerator)

I hope some of this information will be able to help you out. Well, this is the problem. I am not able to run the laptop for more than 10 minutes without it shutting down randomly. However, the more I turn it on, the quicker it shuts itself down. In effect, there is no warning message or any information given by the computer to state why it keeps randomly shutting down. It just shuts itself down randomly without my request. I am not able to scan it in time without it turning off. Now, there is no other options to stop it from shutting itself down. I have ran BIOS mode and it still shuts itself down while in the middle of it running without my request. I have no possible explanation for this apparent occurrence. There has been no logical lead up to this happening. It just happened randomly one day and now it keeps doing it. I am wondering if I would be able to fix it via reformat. I have had the laptop for over 2 years now. I would seriously like some help with this if you can and through your jobs give me all the possible options I can have to resolve this issue. I am still being educated at school and would like to keep this laptop for university. If there is any way you can help me out here it would be greatly appreciated.
