I just purchased a new HP laptop (my son dropped my old one and busted the screen lol), and i want to make sure that i have everything i need installed/set up to prevent any problems/infections. You guys were the first people i thought of! any advice appreciated!!

the computer specs are:

HP G60-530CA
Intel pentium processor T4300 (2.1 GHz)
320 GB HD
4096 MB DDR2 SDRAM
LightScribe Super Multi 8x DVD+- RW with dbl layer support
Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
Intel WiFi Link 1000 Network Connection

Vista to Xp

I have a pc pre-installed with Vista which I not happy with, and I am thinking of removing Vista and installing Xp, how would I go about this or is it not possible with a pre-installed OS?

Flash Player Problem?

So I was using the internet one day and i decided to go on youtube to watch some videos. Youtube's fancy layout was a lined-up formation. It asked me to download/reinstall flash player. I didn't bother and went on google.videos. The youtube videos on google works perfectly... Then i got irritated and reinstalled flash player. It is still doing the same thing. Youtube is very plain and it is the same for some websites. But for most is working perfectly. I checked my javascript and such and it is all enabled. I don't know what the problem is...

I have a dsl modem and i can't get the full speed can someone please tell me what to do, the transfer rate is 1Mb/sec I'm only getting 118 KB/sec from direct downloads (internet provider didn't help) :(

Mystery undelivered messages

Just recently I've been getting multiple messages into my Hotmail inbox stating;

"Delivery Status Notification (Failure) from Postmaster@mail.hotmail.com

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients failed."

Each message relates to an unknown person with email addresses a letter or so different each time

Later in the message there is varying message, but all relating to a replica watch site.

What can I do?

Email blocked by spam firewall or somthing.

Hi all.

My wife is in Aus for a while and the only comunication we have is Email.
She sent me an Email the other day and I sent one back by return. My wife sent another by return. The next Email that I sent by return never got there. Insted I got a mail from the postmaster saying:-

Can anyone advise me on how to get my message to the wife please. If pos I would like to send the message that I have writen. It is a very special message.

By the way, There is no reason for my message itself to be stoped. It only contains lovey dovey words and a love poem. Soft. I know, but I love her.

hi,

i have a 3 mobile broadband PAYG dongle. it worked fine until the other night. suddenly i couldnt access the internet at all....a diagnostic report states that it cannot be repaired automatically 'the host may be down' this happens to all websites and i cannot access my WLM account as the error 80072eff appears..... i have windows vista home basic

im stuck and confused, all help appreciated

I had a old photo I was saving in my documents, somehow it got deleted to my recycle bin and I empty it. Is there anyway possible you can restore something that got deleted from your recycle bin? Thanks......

P.S. I edited the picture in Jasc Paint Shop 9 first before I saved it to my documents if that makes any difference.

Hi, I always use firefox, but after I installed the latest version it often freezes especially when I'm using facebook chat. Whenever somebody is writing a message to me the program freezes and I cant even change tabs or continue to write to somebody else. It is really frustrating, does anyone have anything I can try to fix this?

Hi all.
I have not been on site for a long while because i have not had any problems with me comp.
until now
I been haveing bother with hotmail, its sending out emails without my or wifes knowledge.
The emails its been sending was first of all from all of are address book so we changed that and just today we had 44 no reply mails from the postmaster. I checked on one and its all foreign and the odd word is on about xmas. Are first thought was a virus on the hotmail site as we are idle and use the auto sign in but after the fist batch of unautherized emails went out we changed that so that we have to put the password in ourselfs.
Could any of you clever people help me out? to stop this? as i dont want to get in trouble with anyone cos some jerk as got too much time on there hands.

email problem

Some considerable time go I was using tesconet but found it awful so when I bought cable I changed to ntlworld which is fine, however now and again I am informed by my friends that their emails to me often show a message from the postmaster at tesconet saying they can't deliver them....the emails do however reach me OK...... it's annoying beause they usualy send the same message two or three times.... then phone.....Different people have had a go at finding this tesco GREMLIN but to no avail, everything looks in order. Anyone any idea what it could be?

Search Engine Redirect Problem

I got a seach engine redirect problem. Yahoo!/Google/Bing on Safari/IE, search result links randomly get redirected to various ad search engines or pages.

I've tried everything including HijackThis, and the problem persists.

From what I've been reading on similar forums, I think I need to try ComboFix.

Can someone help me?
