Socket Error on Win98SE Laptop
Error: “1038: Socket operation on non-socket”
In the “Wireless – B Notebook Adapter WLAN Monitor” window
1. I receive this message each time I startup my laptop which is on wireless network with my desktop through a Linksys Router and Linksys WPC11V4 card in my laptop.
2. I have not been able to receive the Router signal on my laptop.
This is a system that had been working for months without a problem. Several days ago, the laptop would not startup indicating a problem loading a program in the startup group (NAV). I removed the program from the startup group and when prompted, selected “DEFAULT SETTINGS” on the computer. Since that time, I’ve not been able to get the laptop to respond to the Router.
I’m not sure the two problems are necessarily related, but discussions with Linksys Tech Help are indicated they are computer system related involving a “winsock error”.
I’ve gone through all the recommendations submitted by both my ISP DSL provider and the Linksys Tech people to this point. I’m interested to know if anyone has any additional input in solving this problem. If there is a “winsock error”, how would I repair it? As of now, I am unable to raise the Internet on my laptop. Again, all was working well before I reset to default on the laptop.
The Laptop is a Toshiba Satellite 2100CDS
400 MHz; AMD K6-2 processor
The PC Card is Linksys WPC11V4 Wireless - B
The Desktop (working fine) is a Dell L933r
933 MHz; Pentium III processor
The Router is Linksys Wireless-B
Thank you,
