Parellel PC operation

Is it possible that the architecture of the PC and/or XP would allow two pcs to be connected such that only one mouse, display and printer are shared and used by both pcs (Not simultaneously, obviously!). Space is a BIG problem

One pc needs to be configured for admin (e-mail, accounts data storage DVD storage etc) whilst the other takes on intensive CAD and and photgraphic work. The ability to switch between pcs during periods of intense activity on either of the machines would be needed. A shared broadband connection would also be necessary for file sharing.

All the networking solutions I've so far come across seem to assume that two sets of PC/Kb/Mouse/Display configurations are used.

Re: Parellel PC operation

if you use a router you can share the internet connection and some have print servers built in so you can share your printer.

use a KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switch and you can switch between PC quite easily

I use a router and KVM saves unplugging to test another PC

Re: Parellel PC operation

Thanks a lot for your response.
I've used a KMV and can switch between the pcs easily!!
To share the Broadband connection, can the two be simply networked? Both Pcs will be switched on at all times
