Network Problem

hello,
me and my freind have desktop computers. we want to make a network in between these 2 computers. i just connect both of them with a cross cable. both pc have windows XP. i have assigned IP address and subnet net mask. now one PC is able to ping the second one, but the second one can not ping to other one and time out occurs.

i'll be greatful if any one of you give me the solution.
our requirement are to access braodband internet and file sharing.

Hi,

What IP are you assigning the computers? I would recommend:

COMPUTER 1 (Host Internet)
IP: 192.168.0.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0

COMPUTER 2
"Obtain IP Address Automatically"

If you still have trouble with this, you can give the second computer an IP of 192.168.0.2, and the same subnet.
