FTP crashes programmes

Hi Gentlemen - and Ladies if there are any on board.

I am unable to upload files to my web-site - hosted on a Windows server. Other people can edit files on the server so the access details are correct. I can access the server to read the files and I can actually delete files but as soon as I try to upload a file the programme crashes, leaving a 0Kb file on the server which then has to be removed before any further attempt.

I am using Dreamweaver 4.1 on one PC and Dreamweaver 8 (both legal and paid for) on another new 'clean' PC. OS is XP Professional on one PC and XP Home on the other and I have run registry scans using Registry Mechanic. Broadband connection is to BT via a Netgear DG834G v2 router and although the system is fairly slow (well under 1.0 megabits at times) it seems fairly reliable and I am able to download large commercial files without problem. In addition to using the built in FTP facility on Dreamweaver, I have tried using Coffee Cup Fast FTP with the same results.

Where do I go frm here? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Bob
