Zone Alarm And Avg

Hello all

I am currently running ZONE ALARM and AVG (full versions) on my laptop, a friend says this is a bit excessive and I only need one or the other - is he right?

Regards and Happy New Year guys

Re: Zone Alarm And Avg

Is this the zone alarm firewall or the zone alarm anti-virus? You should only run one anti-virus program as it can cause conflicts.

Hello Jaynee and thankyou for your very quick reply.

I have both firewall and antivirus running on BOTH programmes, so I guess I should close one of the antivirus's down then yes?

Yes you should only have one firewall and one anti-virus. You should uninstall which ever one you like the least.

Ok thanks again Jaynee, think I'll get rid of Zone Alarm then. Just out of interest what do you reckon to AVG? I'm afraid I'm a complete novice in this area so your advice would be appreciated

Re: Zone Alarm And Avg

I have used AVG free edition for years. I used to pay for norton but much prefer AVG. I also run spybot and Ad-Aware to take care of spyware.

Re: Zone Alarm And Avg

If you have Windows XP, make sure the SP2 firewall is switched off before enabling any other software firewall.

Personally I like Comodo firewall and Sunbelt Kerio firewall a lot.
Anti-Virus's I'm with AVG and Avast!

All free!

Re: Zone Alarm And Avg

Thanks for the advice guys - I already have Spyboy S&D installed and I have just uninstalled Zone Alarm so I'm left with AVG - will that be ok then?
