i didnt know where to put this but would a 70 ft ethernet cable slow down a connection

That's pretty long so you would have to make sure you have quality CAT-5e or CAT-6 cable, and quality connectors. If the cable attenuates the signal too much, data packets will have to be retransmitted, which has the effect of slowing the system down.

Ethernet cable will work fine up to 100 meters, so you should be fine.
