Virgin router - Netgear WGR614

I havejust got my speedy 20 meg connection from Vigin to replace my pathetic sky internet.

With my Sky however it was a doddle to connect to my router because the password was 'sky' and a mate told me what it was. I would like to muck around with the channels and see if i can squeeze a bit more speed out of my connection.

Any idea how i can log on to my router from Virgin?

So are you asking us how to hack into network equipment that you do not own?

Did it come with a manual - the default will be in there.

Doh... yeah.

Changedthe channel from 6 to 11 and it seems to be more stable.

Ooh, Sorry. I didn't mean to share the password - even though it is not hard to find and all the wannabe hackers have them, we just don't need to announce them.

I meant what did you do to resolve your problem that you trying to access your router for. You changed channels and it became more stable.

Thanks.

OIC, ha ha, dont worry have changed it anyway (that was one of the reasons to access it.) Yes the channel change made a resonable difference.

Anyone on sky should really change their channel to 12 from i think 6 as the default.

However the 20 meg 'lossless' broadband from Virgin is a bit flaky still as there is apparently an issue in my area at the moment. Have been getting from 4 meg up to 15. A techie there said i should be getting 16 - 20 meg minimum.

Re: Virgin router - Netgear WGR614

If it is your whole area, get your whole area to complain - if anyone else uses the same ISP.

Its much better already, whatever they have done seems to be working, back up to about 15 meg, but dropping out every once in a while.

They seem to think i should be getting 16-20 minimum as its fibre-optic.
