Re: wireless connection???

What exactly do you mean by wireless usb "thingy"? A wireless network adapter that connects through a USB port? What is the model number. Did you follow the manufacturer's instructions when installing it? YOu just can't plug it in and expect it to work. What is the computer's make/model? What is the operating system? If it is a Vista computer are you sure that it is Vista compatible?

Re: wireless connection???

Sorry ...the last time i was on here..I had this issue with a wireless usb adapter to connect to a computer from my router at home...

Ok...I have two computers at home...one is connect through the ethernet...wire through the dsl company comcast......
I had gotten a Netgear router for christmas...connected it to my computer as instructed...it works cause i've used a laptop with wireless connection capability on it.

I have this second computer..in my daughters room...it runs window 2000 professional...
I had purchased a Belkin brand USB wireless adapter so she could connect to the interenet also...but in my attempt to connect it didnt work...?

So I was given this Netgear Super-G wireless USB 2.0 adapter. I unstalled the Belkin software...and followed the instructions to installing the Netgear wireless usb adapter...installing the cd...info...the connection the usb adapter when told...
but yet again when I scanned for connections nothing came up?

My router is a Netgear 54mpbs wireless router Model WGR614v7, 2.4ghz 802.11g

usb adapter is Netgear Super-G wireless Usb 2.0 Adapter 108mbps, 2.4ghz 802.11g
the box says that its windows 2000....? so im guess 2000 professional is not compatibly with it? or does it matter? as long as its a windows 2000.

please help

Question Re: wireless connection???

Is this it? How far away is the computer from the router? How many walls/floors and what type of walls? I would uninstall the current drivers, REBOOT, and then install the newest drivers [if I got the model right]. Also do you have USB 2.0 ports? How to tell. I don't know if this adapter is designed to work with the older USB ports.
