Re: Blank screen with new cpu.

Hi, I'm havin the same trouble with my monitor. I'm not to sure about taking out the battery as I'm not sure if the bios will need updating. It's my mates computer and I'm new to the IT world. I have an nforce 4 sli chipset based motherboard, 2 sticks of ddr 400 ram, amd 64 processor, 2 different graphics cards - first one - pny verto Ge Force 6600 GT - second one - radeon x300se 128m ddr tvo. I'm going to try booting up with 1 stick of ram and see what happens. I'm also not sure about whether the graphics cords are compatable. Please help!!!!!!!

Re: Blank screen with new cpu.

Take out one of the graphics cards and then switch on the PC to see whether you have a compatibility problem.

Has this problem only occurred since installing a new CPU? Or has the problem developed for no obvious reason?

Is the screen permanently blank, i.e. you don't see anything at all when you switch it on?

Re: Blank screen with new cpu.

Well, My mate basically brought a load of bits tried to fit it altogether. Thats why I have got all the bits now. All the parts are brand new. I'm just about to boot up with one stick of ram and 1 graphics card and ill see what happens. Last time I booted there was nothin on the screen and the monitor was on standby but everthing else booted up fine as far as i could see. I can try taking out my CPU and booting it with that if this doesnt work???

Re: Blank screen with new cpu.

Nope, that didn't work either! Tried both graphics cards alternately. Although there is an SLI card between the two PCI express ports, non-sli and sli. would this make a difference? One of the graphics cards did make the monitor make some clicking sound but still nothing on the screen. Hmmm...... Should I try the Celeron processor in the nForce motherboard DJ???

Re: Blank screen with new cpu.

that 'clicking' sound is most likely the monitor turning on....that is a good start

first a few questions:

1)does the cpu work?
2)is it compatible?
3)is it set up correctly? (i.e.fsb/volatage etc)
4)ram shouldnt be a problem but make sure you have compatible ram (same speed)...also, make sure you have a stick in slot No1
5)is the pc making any noises...(bleeping)

pc should boot up to bios part without cpu in...try that (o have you already...i didn't quite understand)

get bk 2 me once you know the answers and i'll try to help

russ
