Toshiba P30-145 wont boot, no video.

I will start from the beginning. I have had the laptop for about 18 months and shortly after I had it I spilt drink into the unit causing the machine to stop booting up and the video signal was scrambled. I decided to disassemble the unit and soak all the boards and non drive parts in the bath. After a few days of drying out I re-assembled the unit and all worked fine except the keyboard so I purchased a new one.

For the last few months the unit has been overheating so I decided to open the unit again and check for blockage of the air intakes. Considering my success last time I thought I would have no problems.

Once disassembled I removed the dust and fibres from the cooler vents (there was enough to fill a vacuum bag) and rebuilt the unit. Unfortunately I had damaged one of the wires coming from the screen, when I tried to boot up I had no video.

There are three wires which come from the screen, a thicker single grey wire which I assume carries the video signal and two thinner wires paired together, a black one and white one. Both wires have tiny mental caps on the end, both connect too a small risen board off the main board. The black wire connects to an “AUX” port and the white one to “MAIN”.

It’s the black “AUX” wire I have damaged, the cap has been pulled off.

Now if it is just that surely I should be able to hear the uniy boot up? I will try and connect a normal monitor when I get home and see but im worried the problem may be something else.

When I switch it on the fans spin up for a few seconds then stop.

Any ideas?

Re: Toshiba P30-145 wont boot, no video.

lol, after looking on the net I have solved my own question. For anyone who has had a similar probelm this is the score.

The wire I damaged has nothing to do with the LCD, the two wires are the Wireless antenna leads, apparently it will work fine with just the one anyway. BONUS.

My problem is due to me not unlocking the CPU socket when I replaced the heatsink (the cpu was stuck to the heatsink).

All I need to do is disasemble it again and unlock the socket, place the cpu correctly and re-lock.

Should sort it out
