Question New Motherboard

Hi, I have a DELL 4300, specifications are here:

http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...cs.htm#1101572

I am running Windows 2003. P4 1.60 GHz. 640MB (which I dont think Im using, cause this mobo only support 512MB). 2 HD (C: shows 16.20GB [18GB?] and E: shows 111.79GB [120GB]... where are the rest of my GB?), and ATI RADEON 9250 PCI. USB port are 1.0
I want to upgrade to a better motherboard so I can do better use of existing hardware and/or improve it.
Any special recommendation for a good price and totally compatible?

Thank You.

Re: New Motherboard

I've had quite a look but haven't been able to find any new ones so far. Not only do you need support for your socket 478 processor but you also want to move your PC133 SDRAM over and most boards (all that I've seen in the last 10 minutes) only support DDR or DDR2 memory now. Furthermore, you'll need two IDE ports as you have two hard disks and presumably one or more CD/DVD drives as well.

You may need to consider replacing the SDRAM memory with DDR memory in order to find a new motherboard that is compatible with everything else.

You could probably consider getting rid of the Radeon 9250 graphics card in favour of on-board graphics built into the motherboard - I'm guessing that you don't need a high-powered graphics card for gaming because you're running Windows Server 2003.
