Nvidia Geforce 8500 512 mb

I recently had to replace my video card, but now after this one was installed, the graphics seemed worse than the former (256 mb 6800). I know this one must have better graphics, right?

If so, can somebody tell me how to get the graphics better? I already tried coolbits and atitool, but I couldnt figure out how to use coolbits and atitool doesnt work with nvidia apparently. aside from overclocking, is there any other way to get the graphics better?

intel p4 3.2 ghz
nvidia 8500 512 mb
2 gb ram
dell xps g5

Re: Nvidia Geforce 8500 512 mb

What exactly is wrong with it?

Did you uninstall all your previous nVidia display drivers before installing the new ones?

Did you install the latest? They came out about 4-6 weeks ago.

Also is your power supply sufficient for this card?

theres nothing wrong with it really, aside from there being some text errors on battlefield 2. the quality of the graphics is very poor, the games work but im just concerned about how poorly the card is performing.

I sent the computer to a shop to get the card installed, so im not sure if he uninstalled the old drivers or not.

I installed the drivers that came with the card, from what it looks like it was an OEM package because it had no definitive cover for xfx, just a white box.

Ive noticed that my computer sometimes says "battery voltage low" or something, when im having some problems with my computer. it doesnt happen right now, but ive seen it happen in the past, and it happened before startup.

Im not exactly sure what the system voltage is, im assuming its 400 or 600 watts. How would I go about finding out?

Re: Nvidia Geforce 8500 512 mb

You might want to replace the motherboard battery.

Your wattage can only be found by opening the computer and looking at the power supply itself.

I would try the latest drivers.

Go to start > Control Panel > Add or remove programs

Uninstall Nvidia Drivers. You will be asked if you want to uninstall all or just the display or graphics. Choose the latter.

Then load the latest. Download them first to an easy place to find them then just run them.

You will find the latest here:
