Got new PC, cant get online

Hi,

I have just bought a new PC but cannot seem to get online wirelessly. Am currently on my old laptop which works fine wireless so I know it is not the connection that is the problem.

I am starting to think that there is no kind of wireless connection on my new PC even though I'm sure it said there was on the box. How can I check if I am able to go wireless?

Also it says on my new comps inventory that there is no modem. Does that just mean I couldnt go online via old school dial-up or does this affect me getting online via my broadband connection?

Totally clueless on these things so sorry if these are obvious questions.

Matt

Re: Got new PC, cant get online

Hi Matt and Welcome.

Sadly, you asked us about your computer, then failed to tell us anything about your computer, such as the make and model number.

No modem indicates you cannot use dial-up, but that has nothing to do with broadband, which will require an Ethernet connection, built onto most motherboards. The Ethernet will be via an RJ-45 connection, which looks similar to a standard phone connection.

For wireless, you need an antenna - look for one sticking out the back.
