compaq armada help

Hi i hope this post is in the right place..?? Sorry if not.. I have a compaq armada m700 that whenever i try to boot up has a disk control failure. I have tried 4 different hard drives in it to try to solve the problem but it keeps coming back the same. The only way i am able to use it is with a linux live CD. Any help would be great as this laptop old as it might be gets alot of use.. thanks carl..
