Unhappy Water and my computer!

A cup of water tipped over on my computer desk, and fell onto the plugs for my computer and tv/screen/radio (one of those giant surge plugs) And when i tried to turn on the computer, its as if its on, but its not sending out any information, my screen doesnt even pick up that the tower is on. Should i bring it to a computer store to look at it? Or is there a trick to get it up and running again.
Sorry for the dumb question, im a mac person, not pc, so its like messing with an alien!

Re: Water and my computer!

you shouldn't turn it on right away let the water dry out overnight or maybe a hair dryer to dry it.

Re: Water and my computer!

You should replace the whole surge and spike protector and try again. In fact, you should forget all about surge and spike protectors because they are nothing more than fancy and expensive extension cords that do nothing for extended surges, sags (opposite of surges), dropouts (opposite of spikes) and brownouts (long term sags). Instead, invest in a good UPS (uninterruptible power supply) with AVR (automatic voltage regulation). A 900VA UPS with AVR will easily protect most computers, plus any home networking equipment (router, modem, wireless access point), and LCD monitor.

When the water spilled - what happened? Did
