A friend of mine gave me his old Gateway Solo 1150 because it stopped working, he spilled a coke on it but he said it worked long after then. Now it does not respond at all, not even when charging. The battery and power light do not come on at all. He said he had heard what he thought was a slight crackling sound. Any help will be appreciated.
Oh dear that doesn't sound too good It is rare for a laptop to survive any kind of brush with liquid and coke would be a nightmare! sometimes if your lucky you can get it cleaned up but if the liquid gets too far and you don't get it out it can make its way into the components and thats the laptop dead. The only advise I can give you is to seek a laptop repair shop or dealer and get their opinion as they can look at.
