No sound using Sound Max with ASUS motherboard.

Hi

I really hope some can help me. I have the asus motherboard p4s800 MX and the SoundMax Integrated Digi Audio sound card. I am using XP SP2. Apparently the sound used to work but now it does not. I have tried everything. It looks as though i should hear sound when i go to play an mp3, everything is normal and working properly and I have the most recent driver (5.12.1.3665). The headphoens are plugged in fine and I have tried with a variety of diufferent speakers but to no avail, and yes they are in the right slot - I have tried them all just in case! I'm pretty good with computers but I just cant work this one out - please help somebody Also nothing is muted in the mixed and all the volume controls are up!

Regards

David.

If you've substituted known working elements (headphones/speakers), checked that the device is present and working with proper drivers in Device Manager, and checked all volume controls for settings/mutings, then I'd suspect the onboard sound chip has died.

Have you tried an add-on (peripheral PCI) sound card?
