Unhappy Fuzzy vertical lines on monitor

Hi can anyone help please. I do not know much about computers but my monitor has jumpy fuzzy lines (usually 4) that keep appearing on my monitor. It is usually OK for the first few minutes when I switch on but then these horrible lines appear. I thought it might be the monitor but bought a new one today and hooked it up and guess what - they are still here. Anyone got any ideas to help me I have a 5 year old autistic son who loves the computer and he is getting very cross that "its not working"!! Thanks

Hi and welcome to THF

is your monitor a CRT or a LCD, have you got any speakers or any other magnetic source close by?

It is an LCD screen as was the new one I tried yesterday. The main speaker was near the screen which is why I thought I had ruined it but I moved it well away before plugging in the new screen and the same problem still arose!

Thanks for trying to help me Jeff. I would have no idea how to alter the graphics card and I havn't done it knowingly!! I have quadruple checked the connections and used brand new cables that came with new monitor to set that up and checked them and still no joy.
