Smile Draft mode epson WF 610 is unledgable

Hello everybody,

I have brand new Epson Workforce 610 printer. It is a really cool printer. So far the only thing I am disapointed about is that while in Draft mode it prints so light that you can't even read the print. Only if I set it in draft+gray scale can I read it. (in black & white)
My old HP worked in draft Just fine. I am just trying to save a little ink. Is there anyway to adjust this? Did Epson design it that way to sell more ink? Please let me know.

Thanks,

Chuck

Re: Draft mode epson WF 610 is unledgable

No personal experience here but did find this:

Quote:
I used some of the premium bright white paper included with the printer with both draft and “text” mode. With draft mode, the printout was very light. Close inspection of the printout shows that the text is very “stripe-y”, with bars of black, gray, and white. This paper/mode combination is unacceptable in my opinion for anything other than editing for grammar, spelling, or layout. I wouldn’t use draft at all on premium paper. Trying the text setting with the premium paper gave me a beautiful printout. The text is sharp and clear and it looks great on the heavy, white, thick paper. Close inspection of this document shows a solid heavy ink line. There’s no ink savings in this mode, but it’s worth it for the quality of the printing. This mode/paper combination is perfect for submitting even the most important report.

Re: Draft mode epson WF 610 is unledgable

Thanks Jephree,

I think that this review is saying that you can read and use docs from this printer on the draft setting. I DONT THINK SO. I can hardly read anything on the page. I have to squint and look at it under a bright light. I was wondering if there was some way to adjust the output of ink just a little bit to get a light but ledgable print. I guess it is a design flaw. The printer seems great otherwise so far. I think its maybe just Epson wanting us to by more ink and special paper. Any other solutions to this problem would be welcome.

Thanks
